It is located in the coastal village of Nikiana, Lefkada and it is built on a small hill, 100 meters away from the nearest beach. Nikiana, is a picturesque fishing village on the East coast of Lefkada, between the capital of the island (9 kilometres away) and Nydri (7 kilometres away). Nikiana is built at the foot of the Skaros Mountain and the last few years has become a popular tourist resort, especially for families. Villa Rosebud is a brand new place, opened in 2015. It consists of two private properties, the main Villa and the Apartment. Both properties are east facing with a breathtaking Ionian sea view and they have their own, full of flowers, gardens. The interior design of Villa Rosebud along with the outstanding gardens is a result of the owner’s love for nature and decoration. The entire property was built very carefully with a profound respect for mother nature. A big olive tree, more than 100 years old dominates the yard and the stone, the main material of the plot, used in order to decorate outdoor walls and yard.

The story behind
the name
Villa Rosebud took her name from the American film “Citizen Kane”. The word “Rosebud” was the last word that Foster Kane, a wealthy newspaper publisher, utters before he dies.
After his death, in his mansion Xanadu, all his personal belongings are being destroyed and as the film ends, the camera shows a burning sled and one minute before the sled is being destroyed forever, Jerry Tompson, a reporter who was in charge of discovering the meaning of Kane’s last word, Rosebud, suddenly sees that on the backside of the sled a word was engraved, the word Rosebud.
Rosebud is related to Kane’s last moments of childhood happiness when his bank-trustee appointed guardian comes to take him away while he was playing with his favorite sled.
The word Rosebud symbolizes Kane’s lost innocent, his childhood happiness and the importance of tinny tiny moments.
