the name
Villa Rosebud takes its name from the classic film Citizen Kane.
In the film, “Rosebud” is the final word spoken by Charles Foster Kane, a powerful newspaper publisher, just before his death. As the story unfolds, a reporter attempts to uncover the meaning behind this mysterious word.
In the closing scene, as Kane’s personal belongings are being destroyed in his mansion, Xanadu, the camera reveals a simple sled being burned. Moments before it disappears forever, the name “Rosebud” is seen engraved on it.
The sled represents a lost moment from Kane’s childhood — a symbol of innocence, happiness, and the simple joy of life before everything changed.
Rosebud is related to Kane’s last moments of childhood happiness when his bank-trustee appointed guardian comes to take him away while he was playing with his favorite sled.
For Villa Rosebud, the name reflects that same feeling: the beauty of simple moments, the warmth of a place that feels personal, and the quiet happiness of being truly at ease.
